Johnston, Lakshman give evidence
Former MP’s Johnston Fernando; who recently crossed over to the government from the United National Party, and Lakshman Seneviratne have given evidence for a pre-inquiry trial against General Sarath Fonseka.
Attorney-at-Law and former MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa said that the two former MP’s had given evidence this morning for the pre-inquiry trial against General Fonseka who remains under military detention.
According to this report Mr. Seneviratne has made this statement to the CID officers yesterday (18th). Mr. Seneviratne has stated that Gen. Fonseka had political connections with him while being the Chief of Defense Staff. Also, Gamini Abeyratne alias 'Taxi Abe' who has joined the government from the UNP has made a statement to the CID against the General.
Meanwhile, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, who did not participate in election rallies organized by Mr. Luxman Seneviratne during the presidential election, has recently participated in several 'Bodhi Pujas' organized by Mr. Seneviratne.
