Thero says it is political revenge

The Nalandaramaya Temple in Nugegoda whose Chief incumbent is Ven. Thinyawala Palitha Thero was searched by the Mirihana police for explosives . It is well to recall that this Ven. Thero was the petitioner in the case filed in the Supreme Court sometime ago against the Govt.’s hedging ‘soodhuwa’ and alleged fraud involving billions of rupees loss to the country .

According to the Ven. Thero ,  a short while  before the police raided the Temple in search of explosives based on a mere anonymous call and could not find anything , the Thero saw some unknown individuals loitering around the Temple . As he was suspicious  of them , he had inquired from them as to why they were idly wandering ; they have replied they have come to pick up their children . Later ,after they had disappeared ,  the police has  swooped on the Temple.

The Ven. Thero and the other incumbents of the Temple believe that this was a concerted plan either of some group or done at the behest of some  higher ups  who are trying to wreak political revenge on him . As the Temple incumbents  fear that the loiterers were there to surreptitiously introduce some explosives into the Temple and implicate them by calling the Police, they  have made a complaint to the Police , the Ven. Thero pointed out. Though these suspicious elements failed to succeed this time , they may do it  next time, the Ven. Thero noted .
