Polls DIG vows to clean the rest

The Chief of the Police Election Secretariat Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne today ordered the immediate removal of all remaining posters, cutouts etc from public places irrespective of party affiliations following reports that pro-government propaganda material was still on display.

“Whatever remaining propaganda material in public places will be taken down before midnight today irrespective of party colours”, DIG Navaratne said. He was also thankful for the cooperation of the relevant political parties who had offered volunteers to help the police in this task. The DIG’s comments follow reports that large cutouts and posters were visible in the Kelaniya division, with the police reluctant to act owing to alleged pressure from regional politicians.
